The steps I would suggest adding would be right in the begining after installation You need to tell people to

1 Log into their Admin > Pages > Add New > and create a new page called Home Then add all of the Custom Fields And before they hit publish they need to select under Attributes on the left Template as Home Page under the drop down

2 Next go to Settings > Reading and change the setting under Front Page Displays to A static page select below then they need to select Home as the front page
